I was soooo excited when I would drive down Zafarano and see this place being built. My kids were excited, too. We used to eat at Panera Bread in Denver and go out of our way to find one off I-25 in Colorado Springs, just to experience their delicious pastries, clean dining atmosphere, and plethora of seemingly healthy, family-friendly fare that always tasted fresh-made and yummy. Well, welcome to the world of disappointment and disillusion. I don't know if it's the curse of Santa Fe chain restaurants or what, but this place has been a huge let-down. The first time we went, we ordered sandwiches, for which I had to wait HALF AN HOUR. I went up once to the counter to inquire about my meal and was brusquely noticed by a cook who snapped, "Just a minute. We are really busy." Um, yeah, I could see that by the long line of people, but did it really take that long to make a bowl of pasta and a couple of sandwiches? I slunked back to my table and played some games with my hungry children to distract them and stop the endless questions of when was our food getting here. Finally, I got a waitress' attention and asked her. She checked on our meals and returned five minutes later with them plus profuse apologies. I checked the order. They got it wrong and omitted one meal. Back she goes. Back she comes. We munch hungrily. The sandwiches were bland, unappetizing to look at, and - surprise! - 95% bread!! I thought to myself, "Hmm. Maybe that was just an off day for them. After all, they are very new and I really like Panera Bread!" So, I gave them another chance. The second visit, we ordered the pesto pasta, a turkey sandwich, a children's grilled cheese, and a Caesar salad. I swear . . . that child's grilled cheese looked like two slices of brown bread glued together by an almost undetectable smear of cheese product. My six year old tossed it aside after two bites. Chiding her, I tasted it. Horrible. My 12 year old is forcing the turkey sandwich down. I admit that it looked a little dry and chewy. Being the trooper that she is, she stops after five bites. Guess what we did to sate our appetites? Ordered cookies and pastries. At least they were tastier than the food, but only marginally. Whenever I suggest Panera Bread to the kids again, they plead, "No, Mama, please! Can't we go somewhere else?" And oh yeah . . . their Wi-Fi never works. I agree with the other reviewers who stated this. You're better off eating and using the internet at the Target Starbucks across the street.

Usually a nice experience, but this time they got pretty much everything wrong. When we finally got what we ordered, food was fine, but ambiance had already been shattered!

What the hell is going on with their WiFi?!?!?! Seriously. It SAYS that it is there. There's SOME SORT OF SIGNAL, but it just doesn't work. Anyways I liked the hibiscus tea and the broccoli cheddar soup. I thought the bacon turkey sandwich was bland. I thought the cobb salad was even blander. And the shrimp noodle salad was devoid of taste. My friend agreed across the board. I had never heard of this chain before they opened up and the preview reviews from people who had eaten at other locations was pretty good. So yes, I'm disappointed and won't be coming back. The manager and the staff were all pretty friendly, although a couple of the employees seemed to be missing a few IQ points. Oh yes, the music they have on the intercom system was BEYOND annoying...

I come here often and play their excellent rewards program. love the healthy food options. For those few of us of who care about what we put in our bodies, Panera is one of the few chains that gets what we want. Service is always friendly and fast. Lines get long at peak times.... Rather than complain, why don't you order online and it will be ready in about 10 min.? No line, duh! My only complaints are that the dining room floor gets dirty. And the wifi...the worst in town. Would be Four stars but for that. Usually, it's to slow to draw the login page! Now that is slow. Doesn't matter the time of day. This when Comcast offers 100MB down for $70/ mo. Hello, Manager! Call Comcast tomorrow and quit making excuses. I think I'll write the company HQ, as some of us need to work for a few while we enjoy our food. Manager: When the call you, you will know it was cuz of me.

Decidedly worse food than in other locations in NM and elsewhere. Unfortunately this is a change for the worse over the past year. Soup is now bland and uninteresting, and sandwiches have become thin and sloppily prepared. This Panera was once goof, but I now avoid it

Here is my story of this typical chain restaurant, it's my story and I'm sticking to it! We have a big group of 9 people and I see the manager motion to put more cashiers to take our order. Everyone placed their order and went to grab a seat. 10-15 minutes later, here comes the food, really quick turnover for a little after lunch timing. The Panini was good, and the cheddar and broccoli soup was on point! Everyone was fed and we were on our way, made for a great stop with a big group pleasant, thanks Panera! Oh and is it the norm to get a cookie with your order...Cause I did!

Pros and Cons Pros 1. Tasty Pastries and Breakfast Sandwiches 2. Friendly Staff 3. Good location Cons 1. Breakfast Sandwiches are a little on the small side i came here on my trip to Santa Fe NM. It was located minutes away from my hotel and was very convenient. Like all Paneras, they serve pastries as well as sandwiches and salads . At this location, I tried their Pecan Roll, Croissant, iced tea, and Breakfast sandwich. Everything was tasty. The staff was also nice and helped us with directions. My only complaint is that their breakfast sandwich with bacon was a little bit small.

The food is so so. I was going to give it 3 stars but as soon as I overheard someone in the kitchen talking about microwaving a broth bowl soup, I got disappointed. If I want microwaved soup, I can make that at home and pay a third of the price. Also, I had ordered a side of Mediterranean chicken flatbread with my soup and they forgot to bring it out. The waiter didn't know whether or not it was supposed to be a full flatbread or half, even though the big menu above the front register clearly stated that it should be a full order, as did my receipt (and the price I paid for it.) Atmosphere is cozy and nice, as long as you beat the lunch hour rush before noon.

This place is hit our miss. Done days you can have the best service and the friendliest staff other days you get rude people working. The food also has it days some times it is really fresh and your bowls are full and other days it looks like they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel for your food. The restaurant is always dirty especially the tables . The staff walks right past them like if they are not there. It is pretty sad the customer has to wipe or clear their own table to get a place to sit. Now that they are a full Panera you no longer get the free cookie but in many occasions if you order they will not give you the choices you are entitled to but just give you bread as your side. So beware.

Panera Bread in general is a great place however like many chains that come to Santa Fe it is plagued by poor management. One person working at the register while there are 6 preparing food, laughing and talking to each other. One is even drinking a soda while he cooks and I am pretty sure that is a health code violation. There is food all over the counters. The staff all have dirty aprons on. A woman is walking around I assume it is the manager since she is doing absolutely nothing that looks like work at all but seems very annoyed and she starts yelling for the poor cashier who went to get a drink for a customer who asked for just tea then after she paid decided she wanted something else. God forbid she start using a cash register to take an order instead of getting mad he left the register to help a customer. You can tell by looking at her she is lazy and unpleasant. The food was ok but overall it just seemed like a dirty environment.

The store was clean and the service was as expected. My grilled cheese sandwich with bacon was okay but I was expecting a couple of strips not a light sprinkle of bacon crumbs. I wish they made grilled cheese sandwiches the regular way. I think it was made on a panini type machine. But I was hungry and it hit the spot. The Tomato soup was delish. Very flavorful.

This Panera Bread is similar to others, but is an independent operation. They don't accept the Panera Bread card, don't offer chips or fruit with your meal, but do give you a chocolate chip cookie with your order. It appears to be new, has a nice fireplace in the center of the restaurant, and your food is brought to your table when ready. Overall, it is good, but my soup was lukewarm when served today. On my previous visit there my soup was very hot when served. I would return and give it a fair recommendation.

I usually enjoy a meal at Panera, but I think I am done with the Santa Fe store. Slow service, so-so food, not the same menu as a regular Panera. I thought it would get better after being open for a while, but it is still awful. I will wait to eat Panera in Colorado.

One of the nicest Panera's I've been in for a long time. The food was delicious, and they gave me a free cookie with my dinner! It was fast and the waiter service is a nice touch. Definitely recommend this spot if you're in town!

9 f***ing dollars for a small, no-frills sandwich made with barely thaw but very waterlogged and therefore flavorless turkey, grainy tomatoes, and underripe (again, flavorless) avocado. The three minuscule pieces of paper-thin bacon didn't help. The only passable part of the meal was the cookie--it wasn't good, mind you, but everything being relative....

Don't go there during lunch! Extremely slow! They are waaaay overpriced anyway. Many other places in town that are better and much cheaper.

Never ate there and never will. Then why am I writing this review? Because I had an experience with Panera Bread while I was eating at another restaurant, believe it or not. There was an extremely loud, whiny woman with dead eyes eating dinner at the table next to us. She told a long, whiny, angry, bitter, and self-glorifying story about the customer she had encountered that day. Then she proceeded to announce in her loud voice that she hated all the customers. Nope, never ate there and never will.

Their sandwiches suck! Never like they advertise. They do have good soups. The mgrs do try to make it right if you complain. But they are pricey for what you get.

I like the food, I like the coffee, I like the people, the atmosphere could use some localizing (this IS Santa Fe, not Cleveland, or Brooklyn Heights, or anywhere else.) But here is the deal. A lot of us choose where we drink coffee and eat according (in part) to whether they have wi-fi. So I went with my bookbag, ready to do a lot of Sunday afternoon work. Got my latte (very nice) and the Wi Fi did not work. The very nice girl explained that they have had bugs, and the manager hopes to get it worked out, and that it seems to work about every other day. Sorry, that is not even close to acceptable in 2013. Maybe you, Mr. Manager, do not use Wi Fi, or GET this, but this is egregious. She said "well, we are a new restaurant" and i said "A month? They can't figure out wi-fi in a MONTH?" It was really annoying beyond words to hear such a lame story she was forced to sell because the managers have chosen not to prioritize getting Wi Fi. Bad thinking, management. Not coming back. Tribes has Wi Fi all day long, as do almost everybody else in the world. You don't get too many chances to get a new customer. Read Tony Hsieh's "Delivering Happiness"---when a new customer comes, delight that person. That is the only acceptable and intelligent thing to do. Or Seth Godin. read him too. You blew this one.

The drive-tru is a bit of a hassle. It's not because of the service but because of the tight entry-way they have and that's just a common issue/problem with Santa Fe. Who's the idiot that designs the parking spaces and road-ways in this town, a chimp? It started out great but lately it's been bad. I had original given them 5 stars but I felt it necessary to edit my review. My big kid grilled cheese was cold in the center.

Fresh and delightful, Best salad ever! Romaine, strawberry, pineapple, blueberry, tangerine, walnut and chicken mixed with a light poppy seed dressing. It's big enough for two, but it's so good you won't want to share it! And... It's served with a chocolate chip cookie! Sandwiches are large and all baked goods are made fresh on-site. Very clean and crisp looking. Well managed with a friendly staff.

Not gluten free friendly. Not interested in dealing. If gluten free skip. Even a salad was a problem. Seems to be my thing..., disappointed again.

I visited this store again today and my experience was worse than the first time. The young lady working the drive thru speakers during the day either needs a new head set or hearing aid. She was not able to answer my questions (soups of the day and drink choices) and asked the manager to jump on board when she became frustrated. The manager had the same attitude and I was not impressed. I was hoping they would have their act together by now and this was their second chance. No more!

Missed breakfast hours by 5 minutes, so they wouldn't serve me oatmeal. You only have to add water! No customer service. Wish I could give zero stars.

My first experience? Amazing! Would have given 5 stars. My second? Good but a little sloppy. Would have given 4 stars. My third? Bad. Just bad. So I gave 2 stars. All three times I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The first time it was SO delicious! The sandwich was loaded with the chicken salad which made me feel better about paying about $8 for it. The second time it was made sloppily. The two pieces of bread were placed opposite of each other. It may not be a big deal to some people, but it just shows laziness. It's not that hard to match the top of a piece of bread with the top of another. This last time, just tonight, I was SO disappointed! The chicken salad sandwich I got was beyond skimpy. The chicken salad didn't even go to the edges of bread, anywhere! It was a tiny blob in the middle. The taste was way different too. It didn't taste like either of the other times. There were no grapes in it and maybe a couple slices of almond. The whole sandwich tasted like the person who made didn't give a crap how it tasted or looked. The only good part was the bread was nice and soft. And my husband ordered a peanut butter cookie for me and they instead gave him oatmeal which he didn't notice until he'd gotten home. My biggest issue with Santa Fe restaurants is how they go from great to crappy in about 6 months. Someone, I'm going to point to a manager, isn't doing their job by making sure quality is up to standard because I'm pretty sure the Panera franchise would not approve of inconsistent experiences at the same shop. Right now, the only way I would go back would be if I stop to check my food at the counter to see if it's up to my standards or not. And that's pretty sad that a customer would have to do that.

If you're out this way and think your finding "an old friend" of a restaurant think again. Not â„— officially" Panera...don't know what that means...learned it when they would take my card. But it doesn't end there. Menu close but not totally a Panera you go to. Bread is far less fresh, especially to go baguettes. But worse his how un care for this new store is. Patio is a mess and it's apparent nobody is in charge of keeping it clean. At least five tables were full of debris when I was there, and the trash can filled. The girl bringing out food to who was there had blinders on, could have put something in her hand going back...but didn't. Out of things out front, little things that annoy you. No lemon for tea....really? No coffee refilled up front. Also, the breakfast bacon and egg sandwich is and looks anemic on the plate. Boring and bread.... Is there an egg and bacon in there. Drive by this.

I like that Santa Fe has this casual dining option, and the food is pretty good. However, the management of this place is so terrible that I avoid going anymore. I once stood in front of the counter waiting to order while the manager had a conversation with her teenage employee about scheduling right at the cash register, totally ignoring me. The employees are clearly very poorly trained and so the numerous times I've been there the service is slow. The staff also keeps a table in the back of the dining area to collect all the trash and dirty dishes throughout their shift that they don't want to deal with, which is disgusting.

Although I'm a huge advocate for Mom-n-Pop style places, especially for Santa Fe...this place is convenient to grab an early bite to eat and the service is quick and friendly even for a drive-thru scenario. I gotta say, they've got it down with the half breakfast sandwiches in the AM too...I can't eat a lot during that time, so the size was great.

It's my first time eating at Panera bread. I ordered a panini sandwich and didn't like it at all. The manager Greg W. Out if Sante Fe asked us how we liked our lunch. I told him that I didn't like mine. He recommended a chicken bacon sandwich and said that he would take care of us and replace my sandwich. I absolutely loved the sandwich that he recommended! The service that they provided was AMAZING!!! I recommend Panera bread here in Santa Fe not only for the food, but the EXCELLENT customer service!!! Thank you Greg W!!

OK, so they're a chain. Standard coffee-shop sandwiches and soups. The pain chocolat (a croissant with hard chocolate in the center) is very good. The coffee is excellent, service has been courteous and caring every single time. Clean, well-lit environment with booths large enough to spread out and do some work, during quiet times. I've used their wi-fi several times and never had any problem with it.

I just waited 15 minutes in the drive-thru line in the hot, hot, hot, sun while "special paninis were being made for one customer. I wouldn't recommend the Panera drive-tru service to anyone. Kathleen
